Gym membership cancelled after prenancy and birth

My wife recieved a mail stating that her gym membership was cancelled due to lack of attendance to the gym over a 8month period, the problem is that during this period she was pregnant and gave birth. Anyone who has had a wife who has been pregnant will know that once they hit the first trimester they are nauseas etc & the second trimester can be worse, my wife also had a caeserean birth (approved by Discovery) again anyone would know that this is major abdominal surgery & would affect a person being able to go to gym. When I contacted the Vitality department they said they require a doctors letter, to what "prove my wife was pregnant & couldnt go to gym? " and then it will only be reviewed? But when I ask as to whether it was on the system they respond "yes", so please tell me why I need to get a letter from a doctor to prove it as well? But they were quite happy to charge me for the service after my wifes contract was terminated.
I doubt whether Discovery will respon as they probably too embarrassed by this. On there website it states "Best of all, the whole family gets rewarded for you being a Vitality parent" but apparently the reward is cancelled. Well done Discovery!
