Does not pay for medicine

I have been diagnosed with severe depression. My medication works out to about R1200 pm. Obviously if I claim is from the acute part my medical aid is exhausted in May already. Been to my psychiatrist, had the chronic forms completed. Medihelp says sorry - it is not covered by the 26 PMB conditions. Being bipolar is covered. What the??? I have a mental problem but apparently I need to be a total nutcase before they will pay my medicine. Above my premium of R4200 I now pay an additional R1000 for my medication. What makes it even worse is that my son is on Ritalin (R700 pm) which are also not recognized as a PMB. Medical aids needs to wake up and smell the roses. ADHD and depression is two of the major problems in this day and age. Like high cholestorol, blood pressure, diabetes etc: it is not conditions that will disappear overnight. Look after your members, especially member who doesn't misuse their benefits. I will definitely be looking to join another medical aid by year end. I have been referring a lot of my friends to medihelp since joining them, but believe me when I say that my song has changed drastically since 2 months ago.
