Medical Aid must pay 1st before i collect lenses

I went for an eye test on Monday 29/04/13 and today attempted to collect my lenses to which the response was only when my medical aid (GEMS) paid will I be able to collect. How was I able to do an eye test when the medical aid did not pay upfront. This is the 1st of its kind as I had used Eye save before! Shocking!!!
