WATER RESISTANCE SONY Z

I recently upgraded my contract with Vodacom which they offered me the Sony Experia Z (water and dust resistance) within 5 days of me having the phone, it fell into water and got water damaged (so much for water resistance)
like any customer would do, i took it back to Vodacom who in turn returned and said its liquid damaged hence they wont fix it. they also advised that Sony refused point blank to take back their water resistant phone, Vodacom wont fix it and Sony refuse to replace it. so now i am stuck with a R399 on a 24 month contract for a useless phone, i believe Vodacom has failed me as a customer. they are telling me in order for them to fix it i have to pay... WHY IS SONY ADVERTISING THEIR PHONE ARE WATER RESISTANT WHEN THEY CLEARLY CANT BACK IT UP? I DO NOT WANT THAT PHONE, I SHALL ALSO NOT PAY FOR A FACILITY AM NOT USING.
