Do not use Powermad - it will cost you!

Mr. Jones came to see me in 2010 to discuss a small solar system. He quoted me what I felt was a reasonable price, I am not an electrical engineer and not completely sure how this would work, I trusted him to know.

He installed the system = turbine 300W, very cheap and nasty TES regulator, 4 x 12V automotive batteries with a 5000kWh (!!!) invertor. 6x panels = around 500W. He said I would need to use timers on the fridge and freezer.

All this simply did not work and the regulator then broke down. I started keeping records of how the system was performing and wrote him several emails to which I kept getting non-commital responses. Now he was saying that I had told him that this was what I wanted. I eventually found Energy Options (Somerset West) This company came out at no charge (300km round trip) and spent hours explaining to me why it could not work.

The inverter was much too large for such a small system! = a sluice gate on a rainwater tank. Mr. Jones could not be contacted. I reported him to the consumer council who said they were not qualified to handle this. The system has never worked. Thus I have a white elephant sitting here.
