Dissapointed customer - good prices vs bad service

I visited Builders Warehouse in Bedwortpark looking for a gas stove and hood vent.
I previously experienced good value and service at this specific outlet.
I noticed many staff members standing around chatting but no one looked interested in helping me.
Maybe because it was on a Sunday and they had a long week behind them.

When looking at their kitchen displays I noticed a hood vent that I liked.
I had to specifically ask someone to help me.
They called the person who worked with the stoves & hoods.
He told me that this specific hood is discontinued and they do not have any stock left.

I asked him if I can buy the demo one.

He promptly replied "no" due to it being part of the display.

What is the use of something in a display that is no longer available?
Why not rather sell that one and replace it with a current model that they do have in stock?
This is what I would have done to go the extra mile and keep my customers happy.
I asked him whether I should rather go to the competition and buy my stove and hood vent there?
He said yes. He still can't sell me the demo hood unit.
According to me, this is not the way to do business.

Put people on the floor who is willing to help.
