Ridiculously exhorbitant pricing

I had a few minor plumbing issues to be sorted out so AAA Plumbing came to my cluster unit in Sundowner to assess the work and give a quote. The items required were: fit a tap on the kitchen sink (I had bought the tap so this did not need to be supplied), replace a broken clamp on the kitchen sink P-Trap and replace a faulty stop- on the dishwasher inlet pipe. The total parts cost would be about R10.00 for the clamp and R50.00 for the stop- so the bulk of the cost would be for about 1 hours labour to fit the tap, the clamp and the stop-. The quote from AAA Plumbing was for R2 700.00!!! When I asked the lady who gave the quote to itemise the items she said "we only give an overall quote for all the work" and refused to itemise them. When I complained that it was ridiculously expensive for so little work she said that I must keep in mind that their work is guaranteed! I would hope so at that price. So obviously I declined. I went and bought the parts for R60.00 total and fitted them myself - no problems. How can such an exhorbitant charge be justified for such minor work taking less than 1 hour? This is more expensive than a heart surgeon per hour.
