Solar Beam
Solar system geyser leak

Construction & Repair

The warranty on my geyser installed by solarbeam expired in February 2013. In August I discovered a leak on the geyser body. It was obvious to me (and other Engineers that I spoke to) that the leak had been there for an extended period of time which was evident by the corrosion and salts build-up on the casing. In all likelihood going back as far as 6 months.
Due to the unit being in a tray the leak was not detected until it was so bad that it could be heard. I reported this to Solarbeam and submitted the photos as back-up. It was very evident from the start that they were not interested in the problem. I requested on numerous occasions for someone to call me back to discuss the problem but all I received were 2 letters stating that the unit is out of guarantee. NO REFERENCE WAS MADE TO THE PHOTOS. I accept that the unit was out of guarantee but it was the attitude and the fact that no-one bothered to call to discuss that annoys me.
The letter (not call), I received today from the MD, Graham Mundy, sums it up perfectly. He"fails to see the relevance of this on-going discussion" and " I suggest you claim from insurance".
Check your unit regularlty whilst under warranty!
