Hewlett Packard
Warranty Misinformation - HP8500 Printe

Computers & Services

My complaint is similar to user walterw@ from August 2013. HP refuses to honour to offered 3-year warranty. I bought the printer at Incredible in Woodmead in 2011. I registered it with [URL Removed] directly at installation. There is a record of this registration, which HP acknowledges.

When I now booked in the printer for a warranty repair with Incredible Connection in Woodmead (Timothy Matsepane assisted), Incredible got back to me, claiming that HP refuses to honour the 30year warrranty, as one had to have reigstered the same printer twice.

The initial registration prompted when installing the product did not offer or direct to do a separate registration (of materially the same data, serial number, purchase date, shop, personal data...) on a different page within the [URL Removed] website.

This is clearly misleading. The only reason one can think of is that HP hopes that most people will 'forget' to register the product twice, so that they then can refute a claim when the product fails within the 3 years warranty period. In particular after having successfully registered the product in the first place, most consumers like myself will think they have done all that is required.
