Damaged new shoes

Sometime towards the end of December 2019, I took my new pair of wedge sandals to Levinger’s Cresta to extend the strap of the shoes.

The gentleman that I found at the shop, assured me that the strap can be extended. He took my shoes in and told me to come back after an hour to try on the shoes. After an hour I went back as requested by the gentleman, when I got there, I realized that he extended the strap with a very thin white clothing elastic which was not suitable for shoes. I immediately informed him that the elastic will not last because it is not strong enough for shoes.

He suggested that I leave my shoes so that he can get a leather strap for the extension. He told me to pay R398.00, which I paid cash. He told me that he cannot issue a receipt because the till was not working. I insisted that he write the amount on a piece of paper for when I return to collect my shoes.

I went back after 3 weeks to collect the shoes, which were badly done and the inner part of the shoes was damaged.. I refused to take the damaged shoes. The gentleman promised to fix them and get a proper strap.

When I went back to check on my shoes I was informed me that the person that was fixing my shoes has been moved to another shop. I related my story to the new person, he promised to escalate the matter to their head office.

on the 19 March, I received a call from Zenobia Harris, she introduced herself as the operations manager for Levingers. She asked me to send her my complain in writing, which I did. on the 24 March, I received an email from Zenobia requesting me to do an affidavit to allow them build a case against their employee. I refused to do an affidavit because they are in possession of my shoes, they can see the damaged done. Secondly I didnt understand why I should be dragged into their internal processes. I am a customer who trusted them with my shoes. The person who was fixing my shoes worked for Levingers not me. 8 months later, I am still waiting for my shoes. I even spoke to Yadhir from their head office and nothing has been done to date.
