Bp Southern Africa
Pathetic Attitude and Customer Service

Cars & Transport

En route to Johannesburg, I stopped at the BP Ridge Oasis in Cato Ridge, to fill up and withdraw cash. The ATM had given me R200 notes only. I went to buy an item that was R7.50 (the amount is really irrelevant), and gave the Cashier (Thembeka) a R200 note. She looked at me, clearly annoyed and said R200? I told her that is all I have. She then proceeded to speak to her colleague in another language, showed her the R200 and said "For R7.50", to which her colleague laughed out loud, shook her head and decided to spread the joke to the other cashiers. Thembeka (I got her name from the receipt), then slammed money around her till, clearly still annoyed, and hands me the change. I then tell her, that as a customer, she must accept whatever money I give her and that I don't appreciate her comments and rudeness. To which she responds, "for R7.50".
Firstly, as a paying customer, I do not appreciate being disrespected and ridiculed in front of other patrons by a Cashier. Secondly, did she expect me to swipe my card rather for R7.50, to avoid her the pain to get the correct change. The Cashiers at this BP need to be taught about customer service. I will NEVER fill up at this BP again.
