Watch out for company

My roommate had car in for repairs on a rotor arm for vw citi golf 1.4. CO2 tune up was performed horribly and car missed and had no power and horrible fuel consumption. Car went back and was told need a new carburator quoted over R1000. Took car to a friend who saw it was tuned totally wrong air all the way open. How do you release a car when you can hear it is not ideling correctly when you are apparently qualified specialists? It seems this company would tune car out and tell you to do expensive repairs.
