Refuse to exchange incorrect goods

We had a numberplate printed and explicity told the salesman the make of the car, he DID NOT give the option of different sizes but proceeded to make the incorrect size. We realised the mistake when we got home and after phoning to ask if it's possible to make an exchange was told that all sales people DOES ask. But he didn't! The only option that was given to me was to go to the shop and sort it out with the person that helped me. Bad attitude and bad service.
