Pickfords don't adhere to contract or standards

I moved from Gauteng to Cape Town with Pickfords. Their rep assured that all my furniture will be protected with protective edges and packed and moved with care - none of which happened. My brand new bedroom suite is completely ruined. Edges and bumped and the veneer cracked off. The chest of drawers was dropped when brought into the bedroom and the foot broke off - yet Pickfords is not willing to take any responsibility for the damage. The delivery was 36 hours late. Many valuables. Now the "friendly" director who promised to investigate what went wrong, simply apologises for the inconvenience and says I should have taken insurance. However, their side of the contract was not upheld when they did not pack as contracted. I paid for unpacking also, but was left with over half the boxes and furniture non unpacked - again a service paid for but not delivered. DON'T EVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING INTO THEIR MARKETING - THEIR ACTUAL SERVICE DOES NOT GET CLOSE TO THEIR PROMISES OR CONTRACTED SERVICES.
