I rented a vehicle on the 14th of December and was told that Avis will reserve a weekend authorisation fee of R5000 on my account and it might take longer to be returned into my account as I was using a cheque card. Two weeks later I still have not received my money back, I have tried numerous times to contact Avis in Durban but the phone just rings and no one answers. Avis reserved a further R1200 for fuel and since I returned the car with a full tank, that has also not been returned into my account.
When I returned the car at 9:30 a.m on the 15th, I was told that I would be charged for an additional day because I picked up the car before time and should have then returned it within 24 hours. When I asked to get the car back and use it for the day that I was being charged, I was told that I have already been billed and my booking closed. What is unfair in all this is that this was not communicated to me, I could have returned the car earlier if I knew, I had made an online reservation for 9am pickup and drop off, when they allowed me to take it at 7:40 I had no idea it would have to be returned at the same time. They can still rent out the car out and make someone else pay.
