Deposit not returned

My vehicle was in an accident. We are insured thru miway so we received a msg after our claim to say that we could go collect our courtesy vehicle from Avis. We live in kempton we decided to collect from the airport branch as we could go after hours and was convenient for us. We collected the vehicle which we chose. The new vw polo. We had to pay a R780 deposit which we would get back when returned the vehicle with a full tank. We had the vehicle for 20 days and returned it back on 20 oct 2013 it had a quater tank so my husband told the petrol attendant to fill up.it came to R450 excluding the quater tank which was already in the car. Then proceeded to deliver the vehicle back to avis. The guy that helped him signed on their documentation dat it had been received with a full tank. I was told because I paid with credit card a reversal would be done in 24/48 hours. That never happened. I then tried to get hold of avis of which I couldn't and my husband tried the friday and couldn't get anyone to direct him for 45min. Finally got thru today and was told that the money had been deducted due to vehicle not being returned with a full tank. Over R1000 to fill a vw polo. Very upset. Want money back
