Will never touch a BMW after this experience!!!

Cars & Transport

Bought a 2005 BMW 120i from Auto Umhlanga on 30 November 2011, with an advertised mileage of
35000kms. When we got there the odometer reading was some 37200 kms which appeared very low for a
car of that vintage and the salesman was queried on this. He assured us that the car had been parked off
by the previous owner and that the full service history was recorded in the key. What he did not produce
was a print out of the service record which was at variance with the current odometer reading!
During the time that we had the car it needed extensive repairs not in keeping with such a low mileage.
The vehicle was taken in for repairs and servicing to the BMW Ballito franchise, Ballito Autohaus on
9 October 2013, and they pointed out to us that the service record showed that a repair was done to
the car on 16 January 2009 and the recorded mileage was 68000kms. As the current odometer was only
65589kms, we were shocked to have been duped by a supposedly reputable dealer!
The matter was taken up with the dealer concerned and BMW SA and the knee- reaction of both
of them was to blame the person that had recorded the 68000km reading as having made a "clerical
error"..(cant fit anymore)
