Steve's Auto Clinic
Poor workmanship/wrong diagnosis

Cars & Transport

On 3 March 2010 I took my Audi in for an cylinder head overhaul at Steve's Auto Clinic. The repairing costs were about R 21, 000 which included engine mountings, tensioner and pulley etc. They also replaced the multi V-belt.
The car had done less than 32, 000 km, and now it is diagnosed with a defective cylinder head gasket. On 6 December 2012 after I took the car to have the water leaking problem fixed. To replace the water bottle and dust cover cost me R 2, 390. After a few days after it was leaking water again. I took it back and it was discovered that the cylinder head gasket was defective. Unfortunately the warranty has expired, but it seems that you can't expect Steve's workmanship to last much longer than 30, 000 km.
After I took delivery of my car on 6 December 2012, I was informed that the multi V -belt need to be replaced. I tried to fit a new one without success. We bought the exact size as was fitted by Steves. Steves fitted a belt which was too small, and it couldn't last as it was stretched to maximum. After purchasing a much larger belt we managed to get it over the pulleys. The previous water bottle was cracked due to water pressure pushing back into the bottle.
