UNAUTHORISED DEDUCTIONS FROM MY ACCOUNT

I've recently discovered that Club McCarthy has been deducting R40 from my cheque account every month for the past 2 years without me having signed anything or agreed to anything. They have been from my without my knowledge. I've contacted them 3 times already and they keep making excuses why the refund has not happened yet. First they were waiting on the bank, then they needed the cheque to clear... it's now almost 1 month since my original request and still no refund.

BEWARE! What they do is give you a free 12-month roadside assistance when you purchase a new car. After 12 months they 'automatically' sign you up for club membership and start deducting money from your account. This is unlawful - no contract may be renewed automatically. One shouldn't have to opt out of a purchase, you should opt in.

I will continue pursuing this matter until I've been refunded in full.
