Why must I follow up on my refund??

I took delivery of an insurance issue rental on 11 September and paid a R750 cash fuel deposit / levy. The vehicle was collected on Thursday the 10th of October and my husband supplied his banking details so that the fuel levy/deposit could be refunded to us within 48 hours of collection as promised by the branch. I called the branch today at 11:30 to follow up on payment as it has now been 120 hours since collection and was promised a call back with feedback immediately.By 14:00 when I hadn't heard back I called again only to be told that the person I spoke to (Nicky) was not available. I left a message which included my phone number and booking reference for her ease and I have still not heard anything.

To make matters worse when this vehicle was collected last Thursday we walked around the vehicle with the driver that made the collection checking it to ensure there were no new defaults on the body and that the spare wheel was in the vehicle. Once he was happy he left our premises. I was shocked to get 2 separate calls from the branch the next morning to ask if I knew anything about a dent that miraculously appeared on the back door over night.
