Ejx Auto
Ignoring the Consumer Protection Act

Cars & Transport

I purchased a 4x4 from EJX 3 months ago, since then the rear differential has broken because of water in the differentials oil. I have never even seen a puddle or dirt road with this car yet, if the oil had water in it, it was present when I bought the car. This is clearly a latent issue, covered by the consumer protection act which legally must be repaired by the dealer for up to 6 months after purchase.

The moto mend plan sold to me by the dealer wouldn't cover it and EJX argued that any issue found on a 4x4 with 200 000km will always be "wear and tear", strange as the moto mend policy doesn't cover "wear and tear".

The issue was an out right mechanical failure caused by a latent issue, this is covered clearly in the consumer protection act... not according to the law of EJX auto however.

After a long argument with the dealer I managed to get some money towards repairs however it was given as a "favour" I was told and that they accept no responsibility. "This is an adult world" I was told when asked about the repair. Do we not live by the law in this adult world?

Left with regret and a large repair bill with no legal recourse.
