On 06/09/2013 I paid R1500 to SMG Rocks to do a "20 Point Quality Check and Transfer of Ownership" on a 2011 Mini Cooper S I was buying from a 3rd party dealer. The car passed the test, Motorplan was transferred to my name and no problems were reported to me.
When I took delivery of the car the aircon was not working.
Back in Cape Town I noticed the car is leaking oil. After an inspection by Auric Auto and then BMW SA I was told the car was in a serious undisclosed accident before, has a cracked engine block and that my waranty and Motorplan is immediately cancelled.
SMG Rocks denies that they are liable for anything, but fact is I bought the car BASED ON THEIR REPORT OF NO DAMAGE AND NO ACCIDENTS! Who else was I supposed to trust but BMW themselves?
Also why was I sold a "20 Point Check" if only 6 items were reportedly checked? That is dishonest!
They also serviced the car the previous day, how on earth was the damage not noted then? Incompetent!
At the very least they could offer me my R1500 back, since they clearly did not do what they were asked and what I paid for, but they have refused to even do that.
And the best part is BMW SA refused to help me either.
