Toyota
BRAND NEW CAR 44 DAYS OLD BROKEN!

Cars & Transport

I, Gail Kelly, bought a brand new Toyota Etios from a Mr Malcom Belcher at Toyota Mobeni Durban on 7 November 2012. This was bought with a factory as well as an extended warranty.

On 20 December 2012 I left for a trip to Cape Town, about 20km outside Mooiriver we heard a loud bang and a horrible smell came from the engine. We stopped to check and saw antifreeze all over the engine compartment and the water cap had come off and as a result the battery had died. Car was then towed to the nearsest dealership and left there.

On my return to Durban I went to the dealership where I purchased the car and was told that the damages are due to neglegance and I am responsible for the payment for the repairs. They are also not informing me about what exactly is wrong. It is impossible for this to be a fault of mine as me assuming that it is a brand new car did not open the bonnet at any time or remove the water cap.

The manger and sales man are very quick to smile when buying a car but when faced with a problem they are very quick to wash their hands!

Where is the Toyota "RELIABILITY" when you need it?

Please help!
