Steers serves us food that has expired

On the 2nd January 2014 i went to purchase a get real cheese burger from Steers (rivonia Convenient store) only to find that the roll had fungus on it, i sent it back to the store and the manager (Asha) had said that my problem was a common mistake and that they will be careful next time. How can my health being at stake be a common mistake?
