A Santam client drove into my scooter on 4 March 2013, leaving it undriveable. I was told by Jerry Chakale I had to get at least one quote on it so I had it picked up & sent to Bikes Galore in Edenvale on 14 March. They took 2 weeks to send me a quote for over R8000 which I forwarded to Jerry on 27 March. A new scooter costs about R9500. I got no response. I phoned him and he said he had appointed an assessor who would contact me. On 2 April I phoned him again to ask for the assessor's number, which he said he couldn't give because he wasn't sure which one it was. On 5 April Jerry was not picking up his phone. I called Santam's complaints line and was told the case had been escalated to Jerry's manager who would call me that afternoon. I'm still waiting for someone to contact me and my bike is still at Bikes Galore. I've read some disturbing stories about Santam on this site :/ Please don't try to bull me with R5000. I've been without transport for over a month. I expect a full settlement. really wish the other driver was insured with someone else.
