Capitec Bank
Most difficult place to open an account

5 times in total my wife and I have attempted to open an account at this branch. I am beyond fed up. Everywhere I hear great things about capitec bank, so far I have only had bad experience.

Background story, bought a house recently and got married.

1) 1st time my wife and I went, we had our ID (s). We wanted to open an account as we heard so much good about it. We were told we need proof of address.
2) 2nd time we were told the address name has to match the id. Only post we got was for my wife on my surname at the new place.
3) 3rd time we bring our marriage certificate to prove she is who she says she is. Apparently this document does not count as a valid document even tho it is an official government issued.
4) 4th time we attempt on my name, take my id, my wedding cert, car license with my name and address on, lawyers legal document I received in the post re house. Their excuse, my name printed on the document does not have "Mr" printed in front.
5) 5th time we speak to a lawyer, follow his advice and get a printed doc from our other banks as this is a valid FICA doc and proves our address. No luck. They also state no lawyer/police certified document will count.
