Debit/ Credit Card

On Thursday night someone R3700 out of my account just before 12pm, and another R4000 just after 12pm. I Cancelled my Debit card the next day when I saw the notifications on my phone. Went into the bank on Friday to lay my case. They informed me that my card was stopped and that no one can withdrew any more money and that that same cashier would phone me before closing to give me a ref number. Needless to say he did not phone. Today 1st April someone phoned saying that someone tried to make a payment with my credit card from some Hotel?? How is this possible? Claimed he was phoning from Absa and knew nothing about my debit card that has been stopped. I would like to know what the is going on with my account???
