EXPIRY DATES ON DEBIT CARDS

I have had my debit card for years and the magnetic strip disintegrated so I needed to get a new one.
I was informed at Absa that I would need to pay R55.00 for the new card which will be deducted from my account, but now the card is only valid until 2017 and I will have to update the card in 4 years time. Have you ever heard such nonsense in your life, this is now another charge the bank has found to make money. I think this is totally ridiculous as the debit card is not a credit card and this is my money why do I need an expiry date on my savings account. I really think it is time that Absa expires and I need to move my account.
