Exhorbant Salvage Cost

Following an accident on N12 our immaculate 1996 Honda was written off by Outsurance as the salvage ratio was in excess of 67% - the quote that was obtained to fix the car was 30 648 .87. They agreed to pay us - 23 000 . As i am a pensioner i decided that if i purchased the Honda via salvage and tried to repair it with the R23 000 that it would be my less expensive course of action. On approaching outsurance they advised that they would only pay an amount of 6557.00 to us meaning the salvage cost would be - 17000 . How does one equate estimated repairs of 30 000 obtained by Outsurance and then offering us 6557.00 to do our own repairs
This makes no sense at all we did send an e mail today requesting a Senior Manager from Outsurance to make contact by close of business however, no response has been received. The purpose of the e mail was to attempt to understand the calculations above and negotiate an amended salvage cost - The vehicle has already been sent to outsurance salvage yard . we need an urgent response as we only have one vehicle to travel and have been forced to hire a car until the matter has been resolved
