We have been with Standard Bank from 2010 for our mortage, we have homeowners insurance. We have never had to access anything over the years. However, in December, we had a leak which resulted in wall damage, floor damage etc. We reported the incident on 27th December 2012. In early January 2013, we felt like things were moving forward, they sent the flooring expert and they sent in a building contractor. However the plumber they sent could not open the toilet to assess the leak however he did give a seems like quotation! The plumber insisted he had to break the wall. This is a poor reflection on Standard Bank., However, after a week and no other plumber coming to assess the damage, I was given the verbal go ahead from a customer representative to find a plumber which I did find, who came and opened the toilet with ease, less than 5 minutes and no wall had to be broken. He identified the problem, which falls under water apparatus in our policy document. I emailed them the quotation, to this day no indication what I am supposed to do. Bear in mind, the toilet was dismantled so I am forced to live in these conditions. Emails are constantly ignored! Or replied and then ignored!
