Payment Protection Insurance

My mother phoned on behalf of her husband, regarding the payment protection insurance which was paid every month. She was told that they cant help him with his credit card as he was retired not retrenched. He was placed on retirement without any notice and has no pension coming, how is he supposed to pay this credit card, is the insurance that has been paid supposed to be used in case of this. When my mother enquired about this the lady in the call centre was very rude and abrupt. I would like to see this sorted out as my father has no way of paying this as he has no longer a job.
