Ullying mentality of your pointsman

I arrived at the new intersection which has opened in Allandale road in place of the Bekker road inrerswction which is closed for roadworks at precisely 3pm today. There was hardly any traffic so i cannot understand why the pointsman was directing traffic. There was one car in front of me and one car behind which arrived aftrr we'd sat there for a number of minutes. Obviously becoming impatient the driver in front of me hooted. I was also getting tired of waiting while the pointsman waited for the occasional car coming off the highway. Im not sure what the poitsman"s problem was. After a while he let us cross, and as he showed us tobgo he pointed at the drivber in front of me and showed a finger slitting across his throat, then repeated this action 3 times
