I would like to express my intense dissatisfaction with the service of Absa - Canal Walk. I requested a clearance letter simply stating that a certain amount that was debited from my account did in fact come from cleared funds. As a loyal Absa client for the last 10 years I would expect this not to be a problem. Absa provided me with a statement of the date and subsequent days to show that the funds were cleared, and stated that the fact that the funds have not been returned proves that the amount was cleared. However, even though they were willing to tell me that verbally, they were not prepared to simply put it into writing; a document required by my investment portfolio agent to gain access to those funds from my investment account that the funds were originally transfered into. Absa expect us to accept verbal communication, but aren't willing simply WRITE IT ON PAPER for one of their loyal clientele. I will be leaving Absa and making it clear to all my friends and associates that they won't take the time to type out a letter stating something that they were willing to put verbally, and recommending that we all move to a bank who actually care about their clientele.
