I am a new Discovery Insure client and I got a quote for my new vehicle on Tuesday 28 January 2014, which was accepted and I got a confirmation letter and schedule as such. On Wednesday (29th Jan) the vehicle dealership requested that the confirmation letter sent to them be corrected to state that the vehicle is a 5 door Honda Civic 1.8 Executive (the confirmation letter didn't state the 5dr part). After this, Gilbert Morata said that the premium changed and will be -R500 extra suddenly, even though the vehicle's insured market value is less?!!! He said he is waiting for his manager to approve that the extra - R500 not be added to my premium. On Friday morning (31 Jan) I noticed that the premium on my Discovery Insure profile has increased to the higher amount, without myself ever agreeing to this or accepting this new "quote", which is unlawful. Today (4 Feb), Gilbert phoned me and says that the new higher premium is what it is and Discovery won't reduce it to the original quoted amount because it is a "different vehicle" than what was quoted on?!! It's the same make, colour, engine and the retail value is less! How can they charge R500 more suddenly???
