I was in an accident while on my way from work, my daughter was driving and the accident was no fault of hers. At the time my granddaughter was also in the car and we all three were very traumatized by the incident. My husband was in Russia and a friend of his tended to the numerous tow trucks who arrived on the scene. I called Standard Bank Insurance Limited and in my traumatized state said that I had driven the vehicle. I called back a few minutes later and corrected my statement by reporting that my daughter was the driver. We both have valid drivers license & not under the influence but the claim was rejected by so called misrepresentation of the driver. Their investigators treated us like criminal during their investigation, we are all three licensed members in the house, others were interrigated regarding a sticker that was displayed on the vehicles door. I have never skipped an installment on my car neither the insurance. I've been with Standard bank for over 30 years. I feel betrayed due to a technicality in their fine print. The mistake now cost me R100 000 and I am still paying full install on the vehicle and Standard Bank VAF have no remorse, the vehicle is a wreck.
