My husband had a car accident on the 18th of June 2013. He was taken away from the scene of the accident in an ambulance. The towing company assured me that they had authority from Standard Bank insurance to tow the car & my husband was in no way able to sign the form for the towing or to call Standard Bank insurance himself. Standard Bank insurance insisted that we go to JHB Metro police ourselves to obtain the case details because they were "unable" to get the details themselves. I then had to pay JHB Metro to obtain a copy. Standard Bank insurance now tell us (a month later) that WE are responsible for paying the towing because my husband didn't phone himself to get authority for the towing - despite the tow truck driver having obtained the relevant authority. Standard Bank have also STILL not paid me out for the claim & expect me to pay a penalty for not having phoned for authority for the car to be towed & now tell me that they may pay me out on Monday or maybe Tuesday. I have been struggling to get hold of the claims administrator, as she does not answer her phone or respond to her emails. I want to know what happened to the service levels & claims being paid in 2 weeks.
