I received an sms from the bank this morning stating that R1300 had been debited off my account for my car insurance which I normally only pay R760 for on a monthly basis. In a panic I rushed over to my nearest bank to get a statement thinking there may have been an error which to my shock the amount was correct. Upon contacting Affinity I spoke to someone in client services who told he knew exactly why I was calling because im not the first customer who had this issue. He then stated that I wont get a refund as they had emailed their clients informing them of this increase which I never received and he admitted that neither did some other people. I asked to be put through to the cancellation dept where I was on hold for over half an hour before I eventually hung up. I did call back and no one was able to assist me and said they would call back. I never had a response. I paid an additional admin fee of R750 when I was first quoted in order to find the cheapest prices and its not worth it for the pathetic service received. Secondly I didn't sign for any additional benefits on my insurance or made aware of it for my premium to increase.
