Budget Insurance
Bad experience with Road Side Assist

Business & Finance

Our vehicle broke down just outside Caledon, on the 3/01/2014, on our way home from holiday. I contacted budget insurance roadside assist at 15:47 for help. It was more than 40 degrees outside with no shade and my 1 year old son was not coping with the heat. The operator informed me that my policy covered vehicle tow in to the nearest Ford dealer. She at first could not locate a dealer seeing as though she initially could not find Caledon I the Western Cape. She eventually found a dealer in Cape Town approx 160km from my approx position. I enquired about the possibility of towing to the Ford dealer in George. Was there a maximum distance. She said she could not find a max distance only that nearest dealer. So I asked her to send the tow truck. I also enquired about family assist oi get my family home. The agent confirmed that she could get my family home. I waited for over an hour. No help. Then out of the blue a tow truck company phoned and informed me that I needed to pay R7500 up front for the tow in. Next family assist phoned for R3000 to get my family home. Budget left us stranded with bad service and serious lack of information.
