I recieved my monthly credit card statement as I always do every month. This month i was very exited as i was making the last payment on the card which in total was R6.75 -. I decided to make a payment of R10.00. When i visited Absa Westgate this morning to close the account. The staff was very friendly but told me that i could not close the account becouse there was an amount of R1.70 outstanding. I asked the lady if i could make the payment and then she would help me close it. All seemed well until she phoned the call centre and she was informed that we could not close the account due to a payment of R8.80 on my new credit card. She asked me if i knew that i had been upgraded to a silver credit card and i said no and that i was not interested in this card or the upgrade. Since i never recieved this new card nor was i informed about it my complaint is why did i have to pay this? I've never used it. I have not asked for an upgrade. I never recieved the new card. Why do i recieve statements of the apparently old card and made payments to the wrong card but no phone calls asking me about these payments. How many people are scamming like this?
