100% Premium increase without reason

Following 16 months of insurance cover without claim I received notification on the 1st of November that the premium would increase by nearly 100% from circa R550 to R950.

On querying the increase with the account manager Mabasa Bosiwana sent my query to the increases department to review the 100% increase. 10 days later I was informed it would be adjusted down by R30.

I responded to this with disgust. In the meantime a claim was submitted for repair of the vehicle, at which time Alexander Forbes confirmed the increase was as a result of the claim, although the increase was actually confirmed 2 / 3 weeks prior to any claim being submitted.

Given my experience I do not suggest you use this insurer. The arrogance, lack of interest in resolving the issue timeously followed by the unethical retrospective adjustment of the premium confirms the insurers disinterest and focus in dealing with the customers. Something that happens to be rather important in this industry.
