On 09/10/2013 I sent an email to Standard Bank asking them to close my account and I received an automated response telling me they received my email and I'll be contacted within 24 hours. This morning I received an SMS stating my account is in arrears. I phoned Standard Bank to tell them I will NOT be held liable and it better not be reflected on my credit record for their lack of service as they never contacted me. I was told by the lady she cannot help me, I must contact another department, needless to say I refuse to contact them again, the onus is on them as I've contacted them using my own funds already, but I was told she is unable to contact the depart to notify them that they should contact me.
