Gap Cover is not worth the money you spend

I was recently hospitalized with a compound fracture of my ankle. I was provided with a "moon boot" while in hospital at a cost of R2096.00.
My medical aid (Discovery Hospital Plan) states that they do not pay for devices. This is where one would think that Gap Cover (Complimed) would come into it's own - don't be fooled. I have just been told on the phone that "if the medical aid rejects a claim then so do they!!! So, pray tell, what have I been paying premiums for??
Furthermore, I submitted this claim on 16.10.13. I received absolutely no confirmation that the claim had been received and likewise, nor the courtesy of some contact from them to say that the claim had been rejected. One gets the impression on the phone that the left hand really does not have much idea of what the right is doing.
I am REALLY cross and hope that people will think more than twice before taking out GAP cover.
