Nedbank
Moving debit order date without my permission

Business & Finance

I received an SMS:
"Your Nedbank Personal Loan xxxx DECEMBER instalment (sic) will be deducted on 20/12/2013. For enquiries or to opt out please call us on 0860103116 by 10 Dec"

My contract with Nedbank clearly states the debit order date is the 25th of each month. How can they, despite my contract stating this, decide to move the debit order date to the 20th, BEFORE I get paid?

I phoned the number and was informed by the lady that most people are paid earlier the festive season, that's why they do that.

They're BREACHING my contract! I don't get paid on the 20th! My contract says 25th!

On top of that, firstly she says the SMS is sent to account holders can phone and confirm (read the SMS text - it does not). Next moment she says she'll change the date back to the 25th. Puts me on hold, then informs me she'll "LEAVE" the date on the 25th.

That does not make sense, and seems like a dishonest person, telling 2 different stories.

This is unacceptable. You cannot simply move debit orders without the account holder's permission, and then expect the client, at his own costs, to phone your call-centre to get it back to the way it should be.
