First National Bank
Insane interest charges due to client mistake

Business & Finance

Before making two large purchases on my credit card, i phoned card division to ensure that i would not be charged interest until a certain date which i would then pay the full amount. It was made clear that i only needed to pay the full amount at the end of January. I had funds available in another FNB account to transfer immediately, at the end of December my statement showed an amount of R800 for interest fee's. Does FNB help us by draining all my money out of my account, was it too difficult to highlight the fact that if i did not pay the due amount every month, which was a rather small amount, that all purchases going ahead will be charged interest immediately (i know its in small print on the statement)? I took time out of my schedule to do the right thing and ask and FNB does not think it necessary to notify me. I have never been charged interest because i manage my account very well. My complaint has not been escalated and i have been made to wait until now for a final answer. Does FNB value my future with them, the rest of the banks are catching up. Being in strategy in the IT industry allows me the benefit to see the trends, ahead today gone tomorrow.
