Standard Bank
The bank does not protect their customers against

Business & Finance

I have a cheque account with standard bank which I am currently thinking of closing as this is not the first instant this is happening. At the beginning of the month I requested them to reverse a debit order which was taken from my account. They did and it was all well.

Yesterday I was going through my statement and I realised that an amount of R115 was deducted from my account two times and on two different date. I called the customer service line and was told by the consultant that there is nothing they can do when the company tries to debit the account twice. First of all my bank knows when my debit orders go through and if the company tries to debit my account on the date that is not even close to my pay day they will obviously find nothing. Now I ask they lady that I spoke to she tells me that they cant stop companies from trying to debit from my account. they will just enjoy charging me for the unpaid debit order even if the debit looks strange. I really though it was my banks job to protect my account from staff like that. She further told me that they cant even cancel the stupid debit order as 8ta does not deduct on the same that. Now what is that really!!!
