Mutual & Federal
Bad faith reaction to claim MF15105 No MFRF0207-M

Business & Finance

If I caused an accident I would want my insurance company to settle the matter as soon as possible to limit the other party's damages, particularly if it affects their living. It is the right thing to do.

If my insurance acts in bad faith and deliberately gives the innocent party the run-around, I must question my insurance company's morality and ask myself whether they are one of those companies that would repudiate my claim for dubious reasons.

Such a company is Mutual & Federal.

Our truck, central to earning our living, was damaged by one of their clients on 22 October 2013, nearly 4 weeks ago. Their client admitted 100% liability and her broker asked them to settle the matter on 24 October 2013.

Mr Alan McDonogh of Strategic Insurance Systems, representing Mutual & Federal, promised a settlement by 6 Nov. On Monday 11 Nov, he was rude, told us to stop bothering them and "go see a lawyer". The eventual "Settlement Offer" of - 10% of damages was ridiculous and clearly in bad faith: again just delaying.

This behaviour is totally unnecessary and immoral. Now we are heading to court: an unnecessary expensive process to all parties involved.
