While my complaint is currently being handled by Geoff Hirst, I feel its imperative that I warn potential client about unethical selling tactics employed by Nedbanks call centre staff.

I was recently offered a credit card by Nedbanks call centre - being informed that the cost was R16pm. The consultant then saw fit to upsell my account without my consent to one that costs R46, 50 pm. Raising a complaint with the call centre was a waste as they were rude, and didn't call back as promised (yet they call tirelessly when they want business)
I decided against accepting the card, pending an acceptable outcome from the resolution department, but was most shocked to receive a statement outlining payment due on this card - a card that I hadn't fetched or activated. This was indeed cause for concern, and is still being investigated by the complaints department.

I have yet to receive an explaination or apology from the initial consultant -who has probably moved onto her next "victim"
My advise for potential clients, is to take Nedbanks call centre offerings with a pinch of salt - rather visit your nearest branch for face to face, honest dealings and spare yourself any trouble
