Loss Management
Unprofessional

Business & Finance

My tiles started coming off the bathrroom walls. I reported this to our Body Corporate managing agent (Angor), who in turn reported it to the insurance brokers (DAB Broking Services), who in turn reported it to the insurer (CIA). CIA sent out a loss assessor (David Van Der Burgh from Loss Management). He was very unprofessional, giving me his unwanted opionion on everything except assessing the actual loss. For instance, telling me that I should never have bought the unit and that laminate floors are junk. He also in his response, saying he had tried to contact me several times -- no missed calls or voice mails were received. Further he contradicted himself in his own letter stating he asked me for photographic evidence and a invoice from the contractors that fixed the previous leak. He obviously did not, if he could not contact me. How am I supposed to have photographic evidence of a previous loss that occurred over a year ago. He is rude, arrogant and a know-it-all and comes off as very slimy in his dealing with customers. His report is clearly in favor of the insurer (CIA) not paying. As a customer, I am left with property damage and no joy from the insurance.
