Sheer incompetence and daylight

I almost got a heart attack when i was told that my nedbank cheque acc is still active im suprised because according to my knowledge i closed the facility last year round bout april at southgate mall.

What puzzles me is my cards were closed upon ma request however the account was not closed i did sign papers and today m told that i owe nedbank 2700 rands wat a shame, can anyone explain to me why the account is still active despite me signing closure documents a year ago im not prepared to pay the said amount and i have made enquiries to the banking omsbud if theres no response in three days time i will file a complaint through my attorney.
