My car was involved in an accident at the beginning of September 2013 and as I am insured through Hollard Insurance I got hold of them to register the claim straight away. The claim was eventually authorised and I was told that the amount that Hollard were to pay out for the car was R68500 at market value.

Today i received a phone call from a lady at Hollard who said that Hollard's assessor who went to assess the car had made an error with the year model of the car and that they have reduced the amount that they are going to pay out to R53150... The assessor said it was a 2008 model when in fact it is a 2007 model. ALL the documentation that I have for the car and the information that i provided to the insurance company said 2007!

I am totally disgusted that an error of this magnitude has happened, by both the assessor and Hollard. I feel mistreated and absolutely shocked at the lack of concern for me, as one of their clients. The lady from Hollard who phoned me to tell me that the claim was reduced was not even able to answer why she had to request a new settlement figure from the bank or what difference the new settlement figure would make to me. Disgusted
